For many of us, procrastination is one of the sources of stress. Whether it be putting off studying for a big test, telling ourselves “we’ll do our homework later,” or simply not even thinking about upcoming work and events, it all leads to increased levels of anxiety. It’s ironic: we often procrastinate so we don’t have to deal with the stress of whatever it is that we are doing, but procrastinating only leads to more stress. Tim Urban knows and understands this. He was a government major in college and thus, had to write a lot of papers. In this talk, he shares his personal stories of how procrastinating cost him dearly in his university years, before diving into the cranial mechanics of how procrastinating works, explaining them in simple (and hilarious) terms that you and I can understand. He then shares some of the tangible ways to avoid procrastinating, leading to a more relaxed, stress-free life.
