DAY 1 OF OUR TRIP TO NEW YORK

Wednesday, November 14th:
We are all in bed early in preparation for an early morning the next day but can scarcely sleep; the day we’ve been dreaming about for months is coming! We’re going to New York tomorrow!
Thursday, November 15th:
We arrive at the set meeting place at 5:30 AM sharp; we are all a bit bleary-eyed from lack of sleep, but the adrenaline and anticipation of what’s to come energizes us, as does the coffee from Tim Hortons that we drink with our breakfast. We breeze through security and customs (it is Canada after all) and arrive at our gate with plenty of time to spare. Despite the amount of time we have with the combination of the waiting time and the flight, it passes by quickly as we emerge ourselves in card games and conversations. Although this was a trip of delays in the plane, on the runways, and travelling across a city unprepared for the sudden arrival of snow (who will forget the crazy airport train!), we are glad to arrive.
Faaiz even got a little calculus studying done on the subway! In awe of the oculus at the World Trade Centre station, we walked to our hotel in the snow, but arrived safely. Dropped off our bags and had the chance to taste authentic New York cuisine in the form of pizza and wraps… at 1am! A real midnight feast.
