The TED-Ed club was something that I decided to join spontaneously, craving an opportunity to experience BUI in a different way. I had heard things about the club, but never truly understood what it was about until I joined. Being a part of this club has allowed me to discover myself both individually and in group settings. The close-knit community feeling gives you an opportunity to thrive and learn new things about yourself, the people around you, and the community you live in. I was able to discover things about myself and my point of view on the world that I wouldn’t have been able to if it wasn’t for putting myself in this environment. My participation in the TED-Ed club has continuously pushed me out of my comfort zone in various ways, one of the biggest being my comfort and ability to be myself with the people around me. At the beginning of the year, I was intimidated by the intelligence of my fellow club members, not knowing whether or not I was in the right place. After a few weeks however, I became more comfortable and confident in the fact that this was an inclusive community, I was intelligent enough to be there, and that it’s okay, and actually better that different club members think and experience life in different ways. Being a part of the TED-Ed club has been an amazing opportunity, and I would recommend it to anyone who gets the chance to be a part of it.
