My name is Zareefa Bhatia and I am a grade 11 student at Southridge School.
Last year, I attended the IlluminaTED 2019 Conference as an audience member. I really enjoy watching TED Talks as I find them to be an interactive way to learn about new things which interest and inspire me, strengthen my knowledge surrounding a multitude of different topics and ideas. While I was unsure what to expect at my first TEDEd Conference, the conference was an experience that really broadened my understanding of culture, science, arts, and so much more. I was met with peer talks, an interesting keynote, and performances that didn’t fail to keep me on my feet and engaged. I was unaware of the fact that it was the first conference that had been held within the community until I joined the Encounters TEDEd Team this year. Last year’s conference was packed, didn’t fail to inspire, and excited students to participate learning that sparked their own passions. From the keynote to MCs, the activations to the amazing performances, there was something for everyone to learn and enjoy. I know that year’s conference is going to be filled with experiences which will inspire you, help you, and push you to look at all sorts of different perspectives. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to be part of the Encounters TEDEd experience for those attending this year. I can’t wait for you to see what’s in store 🙂
